The Association Of Mouth & Foot Painting Artists
- VDMFK / MFPA / AMFPA -
The British Mouth and Foot Painting Artists (MFPA) was formed in 1957 and the partnership is part of an international self help association of artists who paint without the use of their hands.
The group is not a charity but a wholly owned organization run by the artists for the benefit of the artists. It was formed by German mouth artist and sculptor Professor Arnulf Erich Stegmann (polio victim), whose vision it was to bring together a group of like minded disabled artists from around Europe, who wanted a
fulfilling life without charity. One of its earliest member artists was Irishman, Christy Brown, also famous
for his book and later made into a film - ‘My left Foot’.
The MFPA reproduces its artists paintings as unique greetings cards, calendars and other products, which they sell direct to the public, providing financial security to its members and valuable scholarships for the training of disabled students wishing to become artists.
There are 36+ British artists (one of them being Leanne Beetham), with approximately 800+ artists from over 76 countries worldwide.
